On the first five Fridays of Great Lent, the Akathist Hymn honors the Theotokos (Virgin Mary). The Akathist Hymn is loved by all Orthodox. It is an ecclesiastical poem about the Annunciation of the Holy Virgin and the Nativity of Jesus Christ.
